My 3rd baking lesson




Today we learned to make Black Forest Cake and Kueh Lapis. Black Forest Cake's making process is similar to Cream Cheese Torte cake which was taught last week. The decoration part was more challenging. As for Kueh Lapis, the ingredients were quite standard, only tedious part was the baking process, as we had to bake layer by layer. 1st layer, baked for 10 minutes, subsequent layer baked for every 5 minutes. 

After today's class, I bought a packet of fresh cream from R.Goh. I decided to try baking Strawberry light sponge cake ( from my 1st lesson). I chose this as I have all the ingredients except for fresh cream.As I did not have the piping bag to pipe the batter onto the baking tray, I had to use my muffin mould. Though my end products looked quite different from R.Goh, the taste was the same. The whipped fresh cream was yummy , just forget the fattening thoughts for a moment.At last I got it right! I know what went wrong for all my previous attempts ( before going for baking lessons) . 
Lessons learnt:
1. Must Whisk egg yolks at maximum speed, until stiff
2. Must Whisk egg whites at maximum speed, until stiff ( ensure the beating container is clean)
