This was my first time stepping into Wallace Education Centre. I did not even know it exists until I happened to pass by during a evening walk starting from Dairy Farm all the way to Zhenghua Park. This centre is established by National Park and Raffles Girls' Secondary school ( that day I happened to see 1 of the exhibits on the papers ) , objective is to let students discover Singapore natural heritage through hands on activities. On the walls are exhibits of the history of Bukit Timah nature reserve, starting from as early as 1819. The Wallace Education Centre and the Wallace Trail have all been named after Alfred Wallace, to honour his contributions to natural science. A contemporary of Charles Darwin, Wallace is the other "father" behind the theory of evolution. Wallace had stopped over in Singapore in 1854 during his journeys to the Malay Archipelago, and collected many species of beetles in the vicinity of the Dairy Farm site.
