Day 1: 4th June , Saturday : Board Berjaya Air at Budget Terminal
Taken at our budget terminal |
Taken at Redang Airport, returning home |
It was our first visit at budget terminal, did not expect it to be so small, it reminded us of Bali airport. The flight scheduled at 11.50am was delayed due to the wet weather and many planes taking off at the runway ( I thought there was supposed to be a flight schedule )anyway flight was delayed and we reached Redang airport at about 1.30 pm, flight hours =1 hour 20 minutes. Over at Redang airport, the custom clearance took us an hour, by the time we reached Berjaya Resort, its almost 3pm!
We stayed at ground floor |
Living room with TV |
Bedroom with another TV |
We had a pleasant surprise, we booked hillside deluxe room ( the cheapest room )was upgraded to a garden suite! Room size was as big as our suite at Maldives which we had paid a bomb. This time round it's free! Our room was just a few steps away from the lobby and the beach :-) The network here was much faster than home, impressive!
clear sea water with little waves |
Awesome View from the gym ( located at the hilltop) : gym instructor says everyday between 4 to 5pm, 3 sharks will be swimming round the huge rocks where the 2 people are standing |
fine sand |
We spent the rest of the day exploring the resort, trying out our newly purchased snorkeling mask and tube, booking of the next day's activities. I must say the food was much better than club med ! Nice relaxing place with little crowd.
Day 2: 5th June, Sunday : Turtle watching and deep sea snorkeling
An angmoh couple also signed up for turtle watching, can see the sea creatures clearly through the
glass "window" |
Bottom Glass boat |
Its Feeding time, can see the fishes very clearly |
Going back to resort after an hour of turtle watching |
We went for an hour of turtle watching and fish feeding in a bottom glass boat. The turtles were huge, the way they swam was amazing! The seawater was so clear, comparable to Maldives. Or even clearer than Maldives, but the salt content was very high. After lunch, we went snorkeling at the turtle island together with a Malay family ( couple plus 3 young kids ) and an elderly angmohs. The 3 malay kids were very daring, they jumped in and out of the boat in spilt seconds, the elderly couple swam in different direction, each in their own world. Both of us snorkeled together and the boatman kept shouting at us to swim in a certain direction whenever they caught sight of a turtle. We saw a swordfish, rainbow fishes and baby shark but no turtle. There were lots of fishes swimming around the coral reef.
Day 3: 6th June, Monday: Ginger, salt and seaweed body scrub and kiddy ride
We had our half yearly body scrub at the spa. We were very pleased with the service. Early morning we went for snorkeling at the region where the sharks will appear afterwhich we had an hour of scrub, followed by lunch.
Great view from the beach restaurant |
My hungry model waiting for food |
Fish of the Day |
For the past 2 days' lunch and dinner were buffet, its included in the package. We extended for another day so lunch and dinner were on our own. Lunch was good but pricey.
This is the kiddy ride
After lunch, we went for a kiddy ride for an hour, regretted going for this as its got rather boring going round the sea after a while. Should have continued with our snorkeling.
We preferred Redang Berjaya to Maldives Club Med mainly because of 3 reasons. Firstly, we enjoyed the food at the buffet table, though variety was less than club med but taste much better, more suitable for Singaporean. My favorite food , crabs were served daily. Secondly was the crowd, club med meant to be for families, very noisy and crowded especially at the restaurant. There was less crowd at Berjaya , less children ( they were very well behaved, no crying babies ) , more elderly angmohs. I think we must be getting old, noise tolerance level is getting low. Or perhaps I have utilized my high tolerance noise level and patience during my working days :P Lastly, the service was good, the staff were very friendly and efficient. We have done 3 customer satisfaction surveys in our 4 days 3 nights trip. |
