6 days 5 nights in Taichung and Taipei Dec 2011

Before I forget , I better jot down the journey details as we might be visiting Taiwan again.

From the airport, we took bus 705 ( bus fare about $1.50 ) at the bus terminal ( basement ) to Taoyuan HSR station. The bus departs for HSR station at regular interval, traveling time around 30 minutes. From there, we took the train to Taichung ( around $25 ), another 25 minutes. Took the nantou passenger bus to sun moon lake, its a long journey ( around $6) , we fell asleep during this 1.5 hr bus ride.

I booked an extremely ulu 3* resort, got to alight at 鱼池 bus stop and called the resort staff to pick us up. The resort was huge and the bed was very comfortable. At first we felt quite uneasy as we seemed to be the only tourists, the entire place was so quiet. But after a while, we started to appreciate this place. Taichung transport authority staff and resort staff were very friendly and helpful.

Sun Moon Lake

We spent an entire day at sun moon lake, purchased the cheapest package which covered cable car, unlimited bus rides and cruise. Sun Moon Lake is a peaceful and scenic place. 

At a Gundam Shop

From Taichung, we made our way to Taipei, travelled by HSR again, we were very impressed by the HR, extremely convenient and comfortable. Journey to Taipei took 40 minutes ( about $35), this time round, I booked a 4* hotel and was upgraded to an executive suite .......heehee...Caesar Hotel's location is ideal , its directly connected to the HR station and metro station. Railway station is just opposite and Bus terminal is also within walking distance. The only con is the uncomfortable bed. Most importantly, there are many gundam shops located at the underground shopping area. We spent the nights at Shilin night market.

We spent a day at Yehliu geographical park, its a rainy day and we were freezing cold. On Christmas day, we went to Taipei Zoo, its a cooling day and we had MacDonald there. A Macchicken meal was so cheap ( about $3 ) , can't believe it .

Upon our return, as usual I regretted buying so little stuff. Should have spent more time shopping !
