Eversince Olympics started on 8th August, I have been following the events faithfully. Being a Singaporean, I must show some concerns for my fellow Singaporeans who are participating in the various events.
Let's start off with Tao Li. Event : 100m butterfly
I was truly impressed when I saw her performance at the heat, she broke her personal record as well as Asian record( 57.54) . I thought that must be her best performance until what she said during the interview before the finals. “我游得相当保守 。。。。。。” I was quite surprised by her reply, its always good to be humble. Perhaps she was so confident that she can perform even better at the finals. Her timing at the finals turned out to be 57.99, 5th position. I supposed its good to be 保守。Anyway she is still young, we will see her again 4 years later.
Next is Susilo's early departure from the badminton singles.I guessed its just his luck, imagine you face the world number 2, the pressure is tremendous. The score : 21-13, 21-14 in just 38 minutes in the second round of the men's singles badminton.
The other events that catch my attention are : Swimming , weight lifting and gymnastics. The Korean( Park), US ( Phelp, Jason) and Japan (Kitajima) top swimmers are so cool ! Its a close fight as the swimmers all dive towards the finishing line, especially in the men's 4x100 freestyle relay. The US beats the France ( 3min 08.32)and sets a new world record ( 3min 08.24). For weight lifting, I was speechless as I watched China sportswomen Chen Yanqing, lifted up 138kg, breaking Olympics record. Its her sheer determination and her love for her country that enabled this women to break record.
