We spent an entire day or 15 hours to be exact, from the time we stepped out of Senja till the time we reached Sapporo hotel. Reason being the transit time ( from Narita to Chitose Airport ) was long and there was a delay in the domestic flight due to congested air traffic. From Chitose Airport , we took the JR train to Sapporo Station, the journey was smooth ( though we have to drag 2 luggage bags) and pretty fast around 35 minutes. We checked into Sapporo Crest which was about 3 minutes walk from station ( guidebook said its 1min, wondered why). By the time we reached Sapporo, its already night time, temperature around -6 degrees or less. There was snow shower every now and then, and being Singaporean and my 1st time to witness a snow shower, I was very excited and freezing at the sametime. As usual we went to the convenience store to buy mineral water and some food, the ground was very very slippery. Its dangerous if you step on the ice. I bet I will land on the ground any minute ( I wore an old old pair of shoes, not meant for winter, don't ask me why). I was extremely careful in every step that I make, at this age, its no joke if I fall. As we were making our way back, ZH nearly nearly fell while crossing the road. Lesson learnt : Invest on a good pair of shoes or get the rubbery spikes to stick on the shoes if you are going to winter country.
